A message from our Co-Founder,
Marta Elena Cortez-Neavel

To Our Abilitee Friends & Family,

At the core of our company mission is the desire to elevate the lives of individuals with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and other medical needs. Foundational to this is the belief that all lives are important and worthy of recognition, protection, and celebration. Amid concern around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), I’d like to take the opportunity to check in with you and provide some information regarding what we are doing to mitigate the spread of this virus.

First, I’d like to extend my thoughts and well-wishes to anyone who has been affected by the virus so far. In the coming weeks, we will likely all feel the effects of this global pandemic in one way or another. We understand that many of our customers are at a greater risk of infection, and take this reality very seriously. For this reason, we are developing a plan to limit contact between our team-members throughout the coming weeks, and are establishing intensive hygiene & safety protocols for employees who handle customer orders.

We will process online orders as usual, but ask that customers allow a 3-5 business days buffer in addition to the standard processing and shipping times listed on our website. We will continue our advocacy and awareness efforts from home, and will reach out with more useful information and self-care tips in the coming days.

For now, stay vigilant with your own safety practices, as permitted by your unique health situation: wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face with unwashed hands, limit physical social contact when possible (or keep 6 feet / 2 meters distance from others).

Caring for your mental health is of particular importance during this time as well. We’re social beings, and need each other’s support to make it through tough times. Reach out to your friends and family, schedule phone calls and video-chats, check in with each other.

We will continue to follow updates and advice from the World Health Organization, CDC, epidemiologists, and physician experts, and we will adjust our company practices as needed. Our primary goal is to protect our community by keeping our own team healthy and ensuring your products are delivered safely. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch at hello@abiliteeadaptivewear.com. We love you all.
