Abilitee @ Abilities Expo LA 2020

by Naomi Schwenk |

Abilitee at Abilities Expo 2020

Hi there! My name is Naomi Schwenk, and for the past two years, I have been a proud member of the Abilitee Adaptive Wear team! Here at Abilitee, our goal is to provide adaptive clothing (for babies, kids, and adults) that is not only functional and comfortable, but also affordable and stylish. Whoever said adaptive apparel couldn’t be fashionable hasn’t met us yet! No matter what your unique needs may be, our inclusive designs are carefully engineered to help you live your best life.

Our booth with fan-favorite items on display

Attending the Los Angeles Abilities Expo for the first time was an amazing experience. On the first day of the event, I strolled past many incredible booths on my way to ours. The different products and services offered really opened my eyes to the diverse, unique needs of this special community. It was inspirational to see these various companies and organizations gathering from all over the country for the same shared mission: to advocate for awareness, provide education, and exchange resources.

Our Idea Board with product suggestions from attendees!

As the doors opened to the public, people began filtering into the event and towards our booth. Abilitee had recently announced a partnership with American Eagle Outfitters & Aerie, and our adaptive products were launched on their website at the end of January. Within the first 48 hours, our Insulin Pump Belt sold out completely on Aerie’s website, as well as ours! Since Abilitee Adaptive Wear is only available on the web, interacting with enthusiastic attendees that were excited to discuss this new partnership face to face was refreshing! This gave us the opportunity to meet new people and current followers to answer any questions about our company, products, and materials. We even met a few friendly faces that we’ve engaged with on our social media channels!

Kids Baseball Tees (Cobalt, Mint, & Coral)

Overall, we had a fantastic experience at the Los Angeles Abilities Expo 2020. By the end of this 3-day-long event, we had run out of our Abilitee stickers, brochures, and business cards! This made us very excited to see such a high demand for stylish and functional adaptive apparel. I wish I could remember the number of times we heard groups of people thank us for our company’s dedication to provide innovative, inclusive, and adaptive apparel that will change lives.

I am looking forward to the next time we’re able to attend this event!
