Olivia: A Trisomy Blessing

Olivia: A Trisomy Blessing

To celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month, the mother of one of our co-founder's (Dr. Julie Sanchez) patients, wrote the following to share their experience with her daughter, Olivia.

On February 11, 2018, I was given a very special blessing. Olivia Rocha was born with Trisomy 21, Down Syndrome. On January 20, 2019 I found out Olivia’s formula was going to her lungs. She was aspirating everything that she took in by mouth. Olivia now has a G-Button to receive her feedings. Olivia brings so much joy everyday to all. I know this is just the beginning, but Olivia is full of life. Olivia’s journey will keep going on with her Mom, Melanie and Sister, Sofia behind her all the way.

*** A note from the Abilitee Team:

Dr. Sanchez introduced us to Melanie and Olivia about a year ago. They were one of the families that helped us developed our G-Tube belts! Melanie gave us great feedback on what worked or didn't work as Olivia went about her daily activities and therapy appointments. We incorporated those comments into design changes to create a better product. We're so grateful for our Abilitee Warriors - they help us turn ideas into prototypes and ultimately new products!
